Applied AI Engineer

Salary: £130K – £170K + Equity

Location: London in office

A venture-backed AI technology company is building production-grade intelligent systems used by large, complex organisations to automate high-stakes workflows. The platform focuses on reliability, scale, and safety, turning experimental AI capabilities into tools that can be trusted in real operational environments. They are hiring a Applied AI Engineer to help design and operate the core systems.

The Opportunity

This role is focused on building and operationalising AI systems. You'll be responsible for turning large language models into reliable, observable, and continuously improving production systems.

You'll design and deploy agent-based architectures, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation frameworks. A core part of the role is ensuring these systems behave predictably in real-world conditions, with clear monitoring, feedback loops, and safeguards.

You'll work closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to translate complex workflows into AI-driven systems that can be trusted to operate autonomously. This is an opportunity to shape how AI agents are designed, tested, and released in a production environment.

Skills and experience

Experience in deploying AI-powered systems into production
Strong experience in Python
Practical experience with RAG architectures
