Your new company and role
Hays' client is a private sector organisation who are looking for a software engineer to assist them with the development of their exciting upcoming SaaS product. This role is a hybrid role based in Edinburgh, with a salary range of £35-48k.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role consist of the following:

* Develop and maintain software solutions that leverage cloud infrastructure, focusing on performance optimisation and resource management.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and define objectives of ongoing and new projects.
* Communicate project updates and outcomes through the best channel and at the appropriate level of detail.
* Collaborate with and peer review team members constructively, in a spirit of cooperation.

What you'll need to succeed

The following skills and experience are essential for this role:
* Experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating expertise in Python.
* In-depth knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices.
* Experience in writing test suites and conducting code reviews.
* Knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git) for collaborative working.
* Experience developing SaaS solutions on cloud platforms, preferably AWS (Amazon Web Services), including services like EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS.
* Strong verbal, written and communication skills, comfortable in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Ability to learn and use new techniques and technology as needed.

The following skills and experience are desirable for this role:
* Experience with multiprocessing, multithreading, and designing solutions, preferably in a language other than Python (e.g. C++, Java, Go, Rust etc.).
* Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
* Skills in profiling and optimising Python code for performance
* Experience working in the Cloud, preferably AWS but not essential
