Due to our continued growth, Expleo are currently looking to expand our IT team and we have an opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join our IT support team based in our UK Head Office in Preston. This is a permanent role, in addition to the salary, we offer 25 days leave, pension plan, optional health care and a host of other staff benefits.

Job brief

At Expleo we are looking for a Senior Network Engineer based out of our Preston office with regular travel to other UK sites. Your remit to help develop, maintain, monitor and ensure security over our networks. You will work with the UK team to troubleshoot issues as well participating in the design, development and the delivery of secure project based networks. Expleo are a global business and operate a vertical tier 3 structure at a global level. You will support this team, helping to deliver global network architecture to the UK business.

In this role, you should have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture. In addition a good working knowledge of virtualisation technologies typically VMWare, Hyper V and supporting solutions such as VEEEM. You may have had some exposure to Azure but will have excellent skills in Active Directory and policy management. Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)

Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices

Monitor network performance and integrity

Resolve issues escalated by the team, helping to troubleshoot

Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness

Mentor team members on technical issues

Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)

Communicate with users when needed

Maintain complete technical documentation

Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability


Probably in similar role as Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator with a minimum 5-years experience.

Professional certification (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, with Security and firewall)

Solid background in network administration and architecture

In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)

Familiarity with access control models and network security

Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools

Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Extreme)

Experience with firewall configuration and management, preferred Cisco ASA, Palo Alto.

Sharp troubleshooting skills

Ability to work independently

Organizational and mentoring skills

BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
