The primary purpose of the role is to provide, in line with the business plan, the necessary IT infrastructure and support services such that the business operates effectively and efficiently and is compliant with prescribed corporate and government security requirements and governance frameworks.
The IT Manager will be the champion of the IT organisation and IT roadmap; raising it to the strategic level within the business. They will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of the IT team that has responsibility for IT and telecoms infrastructure and information systems across all sites.
The IT team provides 2nd and 3rd line support with the 1st line being provided by the Bristol-based Service Desk. As well as being the senior leader within IT, the IT Manager role will also provide “hands-on” IT support as part of the IT Team. The IT Manager will also be the company ITSO (IT Security Officer). The position reports to the Product and Technical Director, whose main focus is product and technical development, giving this role autonomy to lead all IT initiatives.
This role can be based at any of our Southern sites (Barnstaple, Beckington, and Bristol) which will require frequent (weekly) travel to each of them.
Prepare and present the annual IT plan based on business needs
Maintain the register of IT risks and progress agreed actions
Progress IT aspects of and actions arising from the company security
Progress IT aspects of and actions arising from business continuity
Maintain levels of system availability, agreed on an annual basis
Maintain levels of 2nd and 3rd line support response, agreed on an annual basis
Plan infrastructure development
Manage the execution of the annual IT plan and development activity
Control expenditure and remain within the annual IT budget
Process, Tools and Standards:
Advise individuals, projects, bids and functions on IT matters
Maintain, monitor and continuously improve the processes used by the IT team
Review hardware and software components of the IT infrastructure, as appropriate
Review usage and currency of general office software tools, as appropriate
Provide awareness of and access to relevant current IT standards
Ensure all software used on the company system is correctly licensed
Day to day task allocation and monitoring of IT staff
Planning of personal development for IT staff
Provide or coordinate technical mentoring for IT staff
Manage all staff allocated to the team.
Be responsibility for the security of the IT infrastructure
Ensure the IT team follow the published security processes
Developing, implementing and maintaining local policy in accordance with HMG standards
Developing and promulgating IT security awareness
Lead on managing incidents involving information security
Represent IT security on internal and interdepartmental and inter-company security committees
Operational Standards and Objectives:
The IT Manager shall:
Comply with the Company Management System and the Company Quality System as applicable
Present work in the Company format unless specifically directed otherwise
Comply with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation to assist in the maintenance of a safe workplace

Contribute to professional exchanges and develop the corporate expertise in IT
Maintain contacts with professional bodies and institutions
Reporting to the Product and Technical Director
This role will be located in the: Barnstaple, Beckington or Bristol area.
