Job Description

SCOM Engineer required for a global IT business, You will be responsible for collaborating with Windows, DBA and Linux systems engineers, application technical support analysts and developers, both internal and in the customer/development teams, to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, and dashboards and reporting in various monitoring tools. .A good understanding of event correlation and the ability to query data warehouse through SSRS to provide reports to assist in determining root cause.

This role also has responsibility for supporting the other System Centre components including Configuration Manager, Service Manager and Orchestrator, as well as extensive reporting via SQL Service Reporting Services.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform administrative tasks from the Operation Manager console, provide application support for the SCOM platform and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules.

* Determine problems within SCOM systems, provide solutions for issues, upgrading software, creating documentation, run SCOM health check analyzer software and maintaining an existing system life cycle.

* Review and update SCOM console security, apply patches, create SCOM console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed.

* Deliver SCOM views via Remote Desktop Web Access, create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and provide problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts.

* Develop existing toolset to improve supportability of the environment – identify opportunities for improvement, including automated deployment of management packs, regular baseline checking against configuration, etc.

* Daily/Weekly/Monthly and Adhoc reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies.

* Utilize verbal and written communication skills to maintain accurate system documentation and provide training as required

* Manage customer satisfaction through effectively communicating and managing customer expectations

Preferred Skills/Experience:

* Experience with the installation and administration of Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager 2016 or 2022 and it’s operation

* Experience in server/application/network performance, capacity and availability monitoring

* Experience using the Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting engine to automate tasks with SCOM

* Experience with Audit Collection Services (ACS)

* Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

* Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio Authoring Extensions (VSAE).

* Experience with System Centre Orchestrator (SCORCH)

* Experience with System Centre Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)

* Experience of using ServiceNow ITSM

* Experience major Microsoft technologies including PC and server operating systems, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server & Office.

* Experience in deploying and managing remote instances of HP Oneview, SCOM Gateway and centralized instance of SCVMM.Knowledge of data backup, replication, and encryption technologies

* Knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure technologies.

* Knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS, SSH, TELNET, SNMP, FTP

* Knowledge of server virtualization & cloud technologies, preferably VMware and/or Microsoft technologies, Azure or AWS.

* ITIL Certification is a plus
