Network Engineer

Rochdale – Hybrid

Up to £50,000

VIQU have partnered with an award-winning internet service provider who offer tailored networking and cloud services for businesses and homes across the UK.

They are seeking a talented Network Engineer to join their team of 10. As the Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining core IP networks, handling escalations from the NOC team, and leading network projects, including data centre migrations and deploying new infrastructure. The successful Network Engineer will work to ensure network security, performance, and reliability while mentoring junior team members and participating in a 24×7 call-out rota.

Key Requirements of the Network Engineer:

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer
Experience in ISP, Telco, or Managed Services environments, with a familiarity in data centres and Openreach Exchange settings.
Comprehensive understanding of routing and switching technologies.
Proficiency with automation tools such as Ansible and/or Python.
Ability to write and manage technical documentation.
Working towards CCNP/JNCIS certification or equivalent.
Strong troubleshooting and network diagnostic skills.
Experience with BGP, MPLS, IS-IS, and OSPF in network management.
Familiarity with graphing and monitoring platforms.
Hands-on experience with firewalls and managed switches.
Capability to develop low-level designs (LLDs) and implementation plans for complex tasks..
Desirable: Knowledge of scripting languages (Perl, shell, PHP, Python, SQL), fibre and WDM systems, GEA and EAD services, experience with test and lab environments, Spirent testing, and Azure DevOps.
Please note you will be required to participate in a 1 in 8 week on-call rota in this role.
