HECK Recruitment are working for an award winning niche client who is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Data.

My client has embarked on an extensive upgrade of the IT infrastructure and has commenced to ensure cybersecurity & GDPR compliance is maintained. In addition, is undertaking significant investment in technology, both to provide a state-of-the-art customer data asset, residing on Salesforce, as well as in data automation technologies. The system will go live in Q2 2021. Already the business has invested in a new website and in developing its digital channel via PPC & SEO activity. The business is investing in growing its data team so the role will be required to develop & maintain the data infrastructure and provide analysis & support to the Operations, Marketing, Finance & IT functions.

The data team will be the focal point of that very activity and every team will rely heavily on the work provided by the function. The Head of Data will lead the data department and oversee the activities of a junior analyst. The role will require a detailed understanding of BI management & support, Cloud-based CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and experience in building API pipelines that will support the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data. With the future growth plans, an understanding / experience of data migration projects as well as knowledge of linking online data sources such as GA to CRM systems would be beneficial.

You will have a customer-first / business support mindset, with the maturity and initiative to do what it takes to keep our business functions fully supported.

Principal Accountabilities: ● Operations & Business Support ● Leader of the Data department, overseeing all activities of the data management, warehousing and business / executive support ● Supporting the creation of quality analyses & reports for the business and the definition of metrics that track the business’s performance on different fronts ● Through a programme of continuous improvement, drive performance of the data management and technology solutions ● Manage the department budget & cost base, identify opportunities for economies, efficiencies & effectiveness of spend ● Responsible for setting the departmental vision and culture and championing the use of data in making key business decisions ● Management and long-term prioritisation of the business’s overall data needs and opportunities ● Supporting the DPO in the ongoing continuous improvement programme for GDPR & DPA compliance across the business. ● People ● Collaboration with all departments across the business, aiding them in the proper use of data, and supporting the delivery of desired operational results ● Working closely with Executive Directors, Shareholders & Senior management in establishing business operational & digital data strategy as well as departmental goals ● Pro-active management of the data team to provide guidance & support and strategic direction ● Effective day to day management, regular 1-2-1 process with your team member including annual appraisals

Skills and Qualification Requirements ● Technical ● Graduate or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Applied Math, Business Administration. An equivalent of this requirement in working experience is also acceptable for the position ● Demonstrate skills in BI, Business BI, Salesforce, SQL server reporting services & Tableau

● Experienced in a data management or data warehousing position, preferably working as a Senior Data Manager or Analyst in a fast-paced and complex business setting ● Demonstrate experience of data management including API cleansing / enhancement that supports the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data ● Detailed understanding of GDPR & DPA legal requirements and translating the requirements into a compliant & safe data asset environment ● Management ● Developing, implementation and managing plans aligned to key business objectives ● Recognising business opportunities and presenting a clear strategic vision of how data & information can be applied to achieve success ● Developing a proactive service to the UB business functions through effective partnership working within the organisation and with other stakeholders.

Personal ● Highly proactive and motivated ● Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, highly proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, in the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports, for departmental heads/management and key stakeholders ● Ability to explain complex dataset information clearly to ‘lay’ managers and other stakeholders ● A team player proud of their work and wants to share it ● Proven track record of leading, developing and motivating a team

The capacity to interact at all levels with the willingness to be flexible is essential to success in this role.
