Job Description
3rd Line Support Engineer – Contract Position – Hybrid Remote (Cambridge)
We have a new requirement for a 3rd Line Engineer to join an MSP, working out of their Cambridge office on a hybrid-remote basis. This is an initial 3-month contract with strong potential for extension.
Location: Hybrid Remote – Cambridge office (2-3 days onsite)
Start Date: Monday 14th July
Rate: £275/day (Outside IR35)
Contract: 3 months initially (likely to extend)
Commitment: Full-time, 5 days a week
Ideal Profile:
5+ years' experience in technical support (MSP or customer-facing environment)
Strong troubleshooting, escalation, and project skills
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the escalation point for Level 1 & 2 engineers
Manage and implement technical changes from support tickets and project work
Support critical P1 incidents and security events as part of the L3 team
Focus on escalated helpdesk tickets, with occasional support across L1/L2 during peak periods
Carry out proactive tasks such as firmware upgrades, infrastructure checks, and project delivery
Collaborate with other L3 engineers to improve service and drive technical innovation
Tech Stack:
Windows Server, AD & Group Policy
Office 365 administration (incl. MFA)
Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, wireless
Virtualisation: Hyper-V, VMware, AVD, RDS
Firewalls: Fortigate, Cisco, SonicWall, WatchGuard
Backup: Azure, Veeam
