2nd Line Support Engineer

Location: Rochester

Due to the client’s Rural location access to your own transport is essential
Salary: £39,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package
Working Hours: 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday

We are looking for an experienced 2nd Line Support Engineer to join this internal team. We are not just looking for someone with the right skills; we are looking for a team member who is enthusiastic about driving IT excellence across our site. If you have a proven track record in IT support within dynamic environments like warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing, and are passionate about leveraging technology to solve problems, you might be the perfect fit for our team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Mentoring the 1st line technician and aiding their professional development.

* Resolve IT issues promptly, coordinating with our MSP Partner for complex challenges.

* Manage technical support for hardware issues for both onsite and remote employees.

* Procurement and management of new hardware, maintaining system performance and security.

* Assist with the management and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices. Whilst ensuring our network is fully optimised.

* Assist in IT projects from concept to completion, ensuring successful implementation of new technologies.

* Collaborate across departments to understand and support their IT needs effectively.

* Maintain an inventory of IT equipment, software, and licences.

* Out Of Hours cover will be required as part of the role.

Essential Skills and Experience:

* Experience as a 2nd Line Engineer, ideally within warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing settings.

* High energy and enthusiasm for providing support across a large, technologically diverse site.

* Proficiency in supporting label printers and a strong grasp of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.

* Familiarity with Azure / Cloud hosting and Microsoft licensing.

* Understanding of network topology, with skills in network cabling termination and installation.

* Experience with WatchGuard, Ubiquiti, Aruba solutions is advantageous.

* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a knack for quick and effective issue resolution.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of demystifying technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

* Build & maintain strong relationships with staff, MSP & ERP providers.

* A continuous desire to learn and improve your technical knowledge and skills.
