Our client is looking to recruit a dedicated web developer to be responsible for the building and maintenance of their websites and web applications, working with colleagues and management across the business to bring their products in line with the company style and fit within existing and evolving processes. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature intuitive, user-friendly design with a solid backend that ensures their customers' data is safe and the service we provide is reliable.

Responsibilities

Plan and present new websites through the use of wireframing and prototyping.
Produce clear and commented code in one or more programming or scripting languages relevant to web development, such as PHP, JavaScript or Python.
Create website user interfaces by following good HMTL/CSS practices.
Test websites and applications thoroughly in different browsers and environments to ensure they perform correctly in all cases.
Maintain new and existing websites utilising a deep understanding of HTML/CSS, PHP and CMS packages such as WordPress and Joomla.
Communicate well with stakeholders in the business to understand their requirements and deliver on them.
Create and maintain documentation of code, website functions and environment requirements.
Follow internal change control processes, ensuring all code is reviewed and approved before being deployed, through the use of Git and Bitbucket.
Review colleagues' code and provide constructive feedback.
Stay informed and knowledgeable of industry trends and changes, providing feedback to management on how the company can incorporate these into our products.
Cooperate with IT team to ensure environments required for hosting websites are configured and available.
Show commitment to continual self-improvement in order to create and maintain websites in a more efficient or higher quality manner.

Work closely with the Software Development Team Manager to ensure agreed objectives are being achieved and that project deadlines are being met.
Attend regular stand-ups, team meetings and demonstrations to keep informed of project progress.
Work with other developers in the company, assisting in code reviews and sharing knowledge to create a wider understanding of house developed systems

Requirements

Strong computer skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
A logical thinker.
Familiarity with Linux server operating systems.
Patience and analytical skills to learn and support bespoke software.
Passion for technology and enthusiasm to improve efficiency of systems.
Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical language.
Ability to stay calm and productive in a fast-paced work environment.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
