My client a leading IT solutions provider are seeking to recruit a Technical Software Implementation Consultant with exemplary communication and client facing skills.

The primary role of a Technical Consultant is the installation of new software and the second line support of existing software.

As a Technical Consultant you will assist in all stages of the installation of the software, including, but not limited to:
• Requirements Analysis
• Installation Design
• Installation and configuration of the software
• Production/updating of Training/User/Technical documentation

Installation tasks and projects may be directly for a client or as part of an internal project.

The above activities are all part of a project implementation and you may carry out or assist with one or more of these activities for any number of clients/projects (internal and external), as well as technical troubleshooting.

Where you are to carry out training for clients, this will normally take place on the client’s premises. You will be expected to familiarise yourself with training practices and documentation guides.

Testing is part of the software installation. You will be expected to test the installation ensuring that it is fit for purpose/ meets the client’s requirements and is ready to handover to the Software Engineer or Implementation Consultant (as appropriate).

You may also be required to input to the Pre-Sales support process, either by developing and/or presenting software demonstrations, at any stage of the sales process, or by preparing responses to specific tender/or other, questions allocated to you.

Questions/Demonstrations allocated to you will relate only to areas of the software upon which you have specific experience, or where you are considered the most appropriate person to respond to a question on a future use of the software in your domain.

You will be expected to become proficient about the software and its related commercial markets to carry out your duties effectively. A ‘bigger picture’ approach to learning for this role is essential to the success of any installation. This learning will mainly take the form of on the job training but you will be expected to supplement your learning as directed, and specifically to keep updated with market and government related initiatives, regulations and general progress/direction.

You may also be allocated second line support calls for relevant aspects of the software and software environment. Our Customer Care Team manage first line user support calls. They will categorise the severity and log them on our support system.

Experience of the full project lifecycle is essential to be truly successful in the role, development will be provided should areas require improvement.

Desirable technology experience include, but not limited to:

• Microsoft ecosystem (Windows Server/Client/IIS/ SQLServer/ RemoteApp/Active Directory etc)
• Virtual Servers
• Server load and performance testing
• Highly available systems
• Administration
• Installation and usage of monitoring tools.
• Networking skills
• UniData, SBClient or other MV database and tuning of production databases
