Another Rebel Exclusive!
Senior PHP Developer / Technical Lead
Take a random straw poll of developers, ask them how they feel about where they work and I guess that most would say 'it's OK'.
There'd be a small pool of people who'd say 'it's horrible' and perhaps a slightly bigger percentage who'd say 'it's pretty cool'.
And then, you'd maybe have the top 5% who would bore you to death spouting on and on about everything that make's their company awesome and the best place they've ever worked!
Well, we think we have one of those places here 🙂
Firstly, the work they do makes a difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across the planet who love their products and services and use them in their daily lives. It's a ridiculously cool industry, with so much opportunity and energy – you'll never go home again questioning what good all those hard hours you have put in have achieved!
You will be part of a team making a positive difference in the world.
The company's mission is to make people's lives better and give them control through the application of their technology and you'll be front and centre of that process as the most senior member of a talented development team, working with the CTO to drive things forward.
The company are looking for a real rock star developer (their exact words!). Someone who can lead projects, work with senior non-technical leadership and someone who still loves to code – this is a hands-on role. Whilst it will involve elements of design/architecture, technical leadership and working directly with stakeholders, it is a senior hands-on developer they are looking for.
However, you will need to be super-comfortable talking to people who drive the commercial agenda for the company, so you'll be someone who prides themselves on their top-notch communications skills in addition to their red-hot technical ability.
It is a commercially driven business, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a fast-changing environment and being flexible when required. That's not to say they don't appreciate good practice, but they can't afford to hire anyone who isn't willing to be pragmatic when the chips are at stake.
The CEO is a very down to Earth and open-minded person who is willing to listen and take advice, so your voice will be heard and you'll have the support of a CTO who is still very hands-on and will act as a technical peer.
The position will ultimately be office based, so you must be in a position to commute into Nottingham City Centre once the office reopens in September.
The role would also suit ex-contractors looking to go perm as the company wants someone who is used to getting up to speed and adding value quickly.
On offer is a basic salary between £80k – £100k + benefits. The role will be mainly office based with some regular home working.
