Senior GCP Apigee Engineer (Contract)
We’re recruiting an experienced Senior GCP Apigee Engineer for a long-term contract role, supporting large-scale cloud and API platforms in a complex enterprise environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on API management, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern DevOps practices, working as part of a cross-functional cloud platform team.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build and manage APIs using Google Apigee (Apigee X / Hybrid)
* Develop and deploy API proxies, policies and configurations
* Implement CI/CD pipelines for API lifecycle management (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness)
* Build automation and tooling using Python
* Apply API security standards including OAuth, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting and threat protection
* Automate infrastructure and deployments using Terraform / IaC
* Integrate Apigee with GCP services (GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
* Support API gateway modernisation and legacy API migrations
* Monitor, optimise and govern APIs for performance, resilience and compliance
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with Google Apigee
* Solid GCP background
* Proven API Management and API Gateway delivery
* CI/CD and DevOps experience
* Python scripting for automation
* Kubernetes / GKE experience
* Understanding of API security and governance
Desirable
* Terraform or Terraform Cloud
* Apigee or GCP certifications
* Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
