About The Role
Position summary
The Platform Services team sits within the Technology Practice in the Cloud Business Unit.

The team is responsible for the implementation, enhancement and continued support of Claranet’s UK Cloud hosting platforms (private and public), this includes multi-tenant and dedicated platforms for customers and internal systems.
The team has three sub-teems within it, namely Backup, Infrastructure and Network teams. The team works closely together while focusing on their specific technologies and expertise.

Sitting within the Platform Services Backup team, this role is for an engineer with Backup experience. The role focuses on implementing, supporting and monitoring Backup technologies. The primary technology is Veeam, so experience with Veeam is a key however multiple Backup technologies are in use. With the role comes training and opportunity to progress and lead within Backup technology field.

Essential duties & responsibilities

Lead, design and deploy Backup infrastructure for shared platforms and dedicated customer solutions.
Work within the Backup team on supporting, maintaining, and reporting for Backup technologies.
Participate in problem management on a day to day basis and during major incidents.
Undertake additional projects and support tasks as appropriate to the role.
Act as an escalation point through expert knowledge. (Including on call as part of a rota)
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all vendor technologies relevant to Claranet platforms.About The Candidate
Position specifications

An excellent understanding of backup technologies
Veeam v10/v11 experience. Installation, setup, configuration, management and reporting
Experience of Veeam Cloud Connect
Experience in using Veeam Agent for Windows and Linux
An understanding of storage technologies
Familiarity of VMware vSphere suite
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Ability and drive to create and maintain up-to-date documentation (processes, Visio diagrams, Excel spreadsheets)
Enthusiastic and highly motivated.
Desire to learn and progress within the company
Ability to work under own initiative.
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Sound problem solving skills and attention to detailIn addition, the following are highly desirable:

Experience working with Microsoft Azure. 
Veeam VMCE certification
