Our client UK is embarking on a digital transformation programme to enhance the customer experience through increased choice and flexibility around its digital channel proposition. Working closely with Group colleagues, the UK Bank will deliver an ambitious programme of work to its core online and mobile platforms that will afford improved functionality and a more seamless user experience. They are also looking to employ a new mind-set and methods in ways of working as it looks to align more closely with Group, which in recent years implemented its Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master with a strong track record of supporting agile delivery within an integrated change and technology development environment. The successful candidate will work directly with the UK digital team to help organise and speed up the delivery of work based on Scrum and SAFe agile principles, whilst also working with and ensuring alignment with Group release trains.
The successful candidate will support the Product Owner by defining goals, running PI planning events, managing and refining the Backlog, supporting the development of Epics and User Stories, organising and overseeing delivery through use of Scrum and providing coaching to the team help mature the understanding and use of agile delivery techniques.
The candidate must be SAFe certified and have proven experience as a scrum master within a digital, technology and banking setting. A strong understanding of continuous integration / continuous development during SDLC is also preferred.
This is a new and exciting role and one that will be supporting the delivery of critical change initiatives. Digital solutions will need to be delivered iteratively and in a continuous, prioritised fashion, achieving optimum speed to market and value from the outset. The successful candidate must also have a strong customer experience focus, enjoy solving problems and can encourage human engagement, particularly amongst those who have limited experience with agile development practices.

The role will report into the Bank's Head of IT Change Office and Development Process which sits within the Bank's wider Change Management organisation.
About the IT Change Office and Development Process
The IT Change Office is responsible for IT Change Governance, IT Project Management and Test Analysis (including Test Automation) for the delivery of the UK Bank's IT change initiatives. It also participates in feasibility studies and cooperates with various other departments including, but not limited to, Data Management, Enterprise Architecture and Product Management. International collaboration also takes place as the Bank works very closely with its European colleagues in Group.
Develop a good understanding of the digital products and services in support of the teams and Product Owner.
Develop a high-level technical understanding of the Bank's digital architecture.
Provide training/coaching/mentoring on Agile methods to individuals and teams so that they can self-govern
Run the Agile ceremonies which includes but may not be limited to; Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, Reviews and Retrospectives, also making sure that the right processes are followed.
Support Business Analysts and other project resource in the art of story writing
Act as the team "safeguard" and remove team impediments.
Improve team velocity, lead/cycle time, quality, and processes where possible.
Prepare and manage Product Backlogs including prioritisation to deliver business value early.
Apply tools, patterns & techniques e.g., ATDD, TDD, BDD, WSJF etc., continuous integration and continuous testing.
Work with the Atlassian suite of Tools (JIRA and Confluence is a must) to build Boards for tracking and KPI monitoring, also encouraging teams to do the same and in a consistent way.
Skills and Experience
4+ years as a Scrum Master in a variety of different contexts (diff. organisations/cultures/sizes/locations)
4+ years of professional experience in a Software Product / IT Development sphere is essential (Financial preferred),
Expertise in Agile methodologies and frameworks e.g., Scrum, Kanban, XP, Nexus, SAFe etc. (preferably Scrum and SAFe).
Expertise in servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, transparency.
Expertise in the use of JIRA/Confluence.
Expertise around backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, Epics/Features/Stories etc.
Expert knowledge of the software development processes and understanding of Team needs within it.
Experience of building out a technical agile environment (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins/TeamCity, Git/BitBucket, SonarQube).
Experience of Test Automation in an agile context a bonus.
