HOW YOU WILL DO IT

The Role 

Senior PCB Engineers are focused on PCB layout activities within our global engineering team, using the latest CAD software tools and incorporating Design for Excellence (DFX) techniques in the design of innovative and high quality electronic products for our client’s customers. You will design circuit boards for products and customers across a wide variety of industries. This role presents an opportunity to partner with project team members across the globe including Hardware Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and PCB Fabricators.

As a member of the Product Development Team, this role will involve PCB constraint entry, placement, routing, silkscreen and assembly text adjustment, fabrication and assembly drawing creation, design checks and analysis, submitting data for DFX reviews and implementing any feedback, post processing of the design and the release of deliverable data packages as defined in the Project Proposal.

This is a new role our client are looking for a candidate who can help grow a PCB layout team, able to support business development and mentor junior engineers.

What you will do

Develop PCB Designs that are innovative, high-quality, cost-appropriate and satisfy the stakeholder’s (customer, manufacturing, project team, etc.) needs and requirements throughout product realization.
Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to perform necessary design work including design creation, design analysis and design verification.
Lead the evaluation and improvement of processes, tools and methodologies using Lean Sigma concepts and tools to ensure best practices are used throughout the PCB group and the design centre.
Able to communicate with people at all levels within the organization and with external customers.
Provide expert support to local and remote design centres as well as business units for tools, processes, and capabilities for PCB Design & DFX Services.
Support proposal development through the identification of project tasks, durations, interdependencies, risks and assumptions.
Serve as a technical or design team leader within PCB Design to provide technical guidance, control scope, schedule, budget and ensure overall technical success on projects.
Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business.

Essential Skills

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the full product development process (Conceptualize, Design, Commercialize, Manufacture, Fulfill and Sustain) including the engineering role
Has a good understanding of the PCB Fabrication, Assembly and Test processes
Experience in at least one of the following tool sets: Cadence, Mentor or Altium.
Experience in high density placement and interconnect, multi-layer, double-sided assembly and electrically constrained designs would be advantageous
Decision making, problem solving, and analytical skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop good working relationships with team members and customers
Excellent time management and an ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Good self-discipline, demonstrating reliability and dependability

Desired Skills

Designing boards for volume manufacturing and test processes is desirable
Experience working directly with customers to define requirements and create specifications
Chartered engineer

Required Education/Experience

You should hold an MEng or BEng in Electrical and Electronic engineering, or a related discipline. 
Experience of 8+ years is preferred for this position, assuming education requirements are met.
