We are happy to discuss remote or hybrid working, though there will be an element of travel as required for this role likely to Manchester, London or Reading approximately once per week.
You must already hold, or be prepared to undergo, National Security Vetting (NSV) enhanced Security Check (SC) level.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for designing, describing, and leading the technical community to deliver the overall, end-to-end solution. Youll work closely with individual Solution Leads, Architects and the Technology Team, collaborating with the programme and project management community to ensure that the technology vision is translated into planning.

As Lead Solution Architect, youll be an excellent team player who will work collaboratively across the programme, functionally assisting and supporting teams to ensure successful outputs and outcomes. Youll have excellent interpersonal, communication and presentational skills.

Responsibilities:
Motivate, engage and lead the team of architects and IT specialists to design effective solutions
Establish staffing requirements for complex development activity within the Programme
Responsible for contributing/initiating technical discussions and architecture planning with internal and external stakeholders
Working directly with stakeholders and experienced technical SMEs across multiple disciplines to comprehend solution problems and identify solutions
Work together with a team of developers, engineers, and designers to deliver innovative solutions to migration challenges using open source and AWS public cloud services
Produce and maintain clear documentation and standards for cloud operations in the organisation
Engage with multidisciplinary team members on the client side
Attend Technical or Programme/Project meetings as required and be comfortable with producing and delivering engaging presentations or demonstrations to a variety of stakeholders

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Essential:
Familiarity with AWS Public Cloud services, such as different Database, Storage, Networking and Container Orchestration offerings
Experience of; Agile, Scrum, Lean, Kanban methodologies
Knowledge of full software development lifecycle processes, enterprise application software installation and maintenance, integrating with third-party applications through API interfaces and other means
Working knowledge of fundamental networking, security, and systems engineering concepts such as TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, Load Balancing, and SSL
Teamwork skills able to work closely with clients and internal teams to organise activities and drive technical development projects
Understanding of scripting and programming languages
Strong interpersonal skills
Highly articulate, possessing good written and verbal communication and presentational skills
Managing ambiguity and coping with uncertainty
Self-starter / proactive and motivating of others

Desirable:
Knowledge of TOGAF & RCDA
SparxEA, ArchiMate or other architectural modelling tools
Experience of complex database and application architectures
Experience of application re-platforming and data migration
Varied Architectural expertise, encompassing as many as possible of: technical / solution / application / enterprise / integration / security
Experience in Architectural Governance Frameworks
Familiarity with some of the following technologies; Oracle RDBMS / Weblogic, AWS EKS / RDS, Springboot, Elastic, RHEL, RabbitMQ / SQS.
Broad knowledge of OpenSource technologies
AWS Certified Solutions Architect and / or Azure Certification
