Java Software Developer

Location: Bristol

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 + excellent company benefits

Our client is a world class aviation technology provider is seeking to take on an experienced Java or full stack developer.

As a developer you will be responsible for implementing new features as part of our product development roadmap, working in an Agile development environment.

The Software Developer role works as an integral part of a development team delivering high quality code in accordance with the departmental coding standards in order to satisfy product and bespoke customer requirements. All team members are expected to contribute and drive continuous improvements to quality and efficiency of the department.

Technical Skills required for the role:

Java web application development experience
Excellent knowledge of Java language and core API
Web Browser/Web server/Database interactions
Ability to produce technical documentation to support solutions implemented.
Commercial experience with
Java 11
Tomcat
Eclipse IDE/IntelliJ
Git (BitBucket), SVN
Jenkins
Junit
Working with DBMSs such as MySQL.
SpringMVC
JavaScript
REST Services
Maven
Essential Skills:

Excellent understanding of modern Javascript, ES6 and above
Excellent understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
Excellent understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
Excellent understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or SVN
Good understanding of ReactJS, asynchronous request handling and WebPack
Good understanding of Java 8+
Delivering software using Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban)
Ability to analyse and maintain existing solutions
Strong working knowledge and understanding of software development lifecycles
Self-motivation and drive
Strong team working skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent analytical and organization skills
An ability to understand front-end users' requirements and a problem-solving attitude
