IT Infrastructure Manager

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit a IT Infrastructure Manager to join our client based in the Liverpool Dock area, although you will have the opportunity to work flexibly at home a few days per week and in the office.

They are a business who in recent years have been benefiting from the consumer shift from high street to ecommerce shopping. Throughout COVID, this business have actually gone from strength to strength and provide one of the most stable sectors to work in currently with no signs of slowing down.

As the success for the business continues, they have invested in technology and software to keep them ahead of the competition and have a number of greenfield projects for you to work on.

The team itself has 10 people who will report to you, but the role itself is still "hands on" so you will get a good chance to still remain technical, but also take on the management & strategic side.

This could suit someone currently as an Infrastructure Lead who wants to take that next step, but of course if you are already at management level, then that works too.

Your Role

As the IT Infrastructure Manager- your role will be to maintain responsibility for all infrastructure both internally hosted and outsourced.

These responsibilities include but are not limited to: Managing vendor relationships, developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising key functional areas; particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, telecommunications systems and advanced desktop support.

The role requires the coordination and facilitation of activities with peer teams including managing resource in support of projects/initiatives and daily tasks.

The role supports, in conjunction with the Head of IT Services, the overall strategic direction of infrastructure and ultimately IT Services

Day to day

* Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Server & Storage, Internet, security, wireless implementations and telephony.

* Manage outsource partners for Data Centre & WAN; act as primary contact with outsourcing vendors. Facilitate regular communication about properties or projects to ensure key performance indicators are achieved and maintained.

* Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.

* Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.

* Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts.

* Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management.

* Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the Head of IT Services.

* Define server and desktop hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.

* Test network & server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure, capacity planning and security governance.

* Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.

* Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.

* Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.

Who are you?

For this role we would like you to be;

· Strong technical understanding of multiple technologies and applications such as; Network technologies (LAN, WAN, VPN, Switch/ Routing), Microsoft Windows Server (2008 onwards) Email and messaging services, IP Telephony, Active Directory, Citrix, VMware, Azure, Cloud Services, O365 Implementation and support

· Successful leadership of an infrastructure team would be beneficial

· ITIL foundation intermediate
