What is the Role?

It's a newly created role within the IT Procurement and Commercial function where you will support the Senior Category Manager to deliver the Transmission IT Procurement strategy.

As part of Transmission separation from Networks, IT are heavily focused on delivering Transmissions digital strategy. IT Digital Strategy describes our ongoing journey to become a more fully digitalised business. Data-driven investment decisions will help us deliver operational efficiency, network resilience, timely connections and support development of our net zero emissions network. Procurement and Commercial are working collaboratively with IT Transmission to underpin this digital vision and all Transmission business activities, whilst ensuring we continue to provide support across the whole group.

We are seeking an IT Category Manager to help support this exciting time in Transmission by taking a leading role in the end to end Procurement and Contract lifecycle.

Working within our Group Procurement function, you'll be responsible for the execution of a category management approach to the procurement of all IT purchases across Transmission to ensure compliance, drive efficiencies, mitigate supply risks and drive down the total cost of ownership.

You'll be immersed in all team tender activities, building a Category Strategy to support and manage the suppliers once contracts are executed to ensure contract commitments are met and appropriate governance is in place. This is a fully diverse role which will manage the end to end lifecycle of strategic frameworks and supplier performance to deliver IT Strategy and regulatory commitments.

In this role, the main responsibilities include:-

Support the Senior Category Manager in providing 'best in class' service to internal customers including procurement, contracting, supply chain management, commercial and contractual input to development, construction and operational teams within the Business Unit area and specifically IT.
Ensure the development and execution of procurement and commercial strategies which are aligned with category plans, company and business objectives. This includes identifying and implementing supply chain improvement opportunities to support business growth.
Understand and support the development of strategic relationships with key suppliers and effectively manage key interfaces with points of contact in a business unit and with the wider procurement and commercial team.
Directly accountable for category management and all sourcing activities ensures through value leadership and engagement with the wider procurement and commercial team; the procurement at lowest cost of ownership in accordance with procurement policies and procedures. This includes covering all commercial, business and legal project risks in contracts.
Managing relationships with suppliers and monitoring supplier performance, interfacing with the Business to understand the impact of sourcing activities and fostering relationships with Legal to build robust & agile contracts.What do I need?

Knowledge of Utilities Contract Regulations (Scotland or UK) would be an advantage.
Previous IT procurement experience in a similar industry with a personal proven track record in executing complex procurement activities.
Stakeholder Management, with a strong customer focus and the ability to influence people outside your own sphere of responsibility.
Excellent organisation and planning skills, ability to work to deadlines, dealing with changing priorities whilst managing own time effectively. Enthusiasm and drive with a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.
Degree educated or equivalent direct entry to recognised appropriate professional body.
