Your tasks and responsibilities

The Infrastructure Engineer role will operate in a Hybrid working arrangement with occasional travel to the Newcastle head office and DC locations. You will be part of a larger Infrastructure team reporting to a Technical Lead who is responsible for both Infrastructure and Network teams.

The role will be split between BAU and Project work, where you will have the opportunity to work with other areas of the business and drive change and improvement where needed. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, experience and be exposed to Gambling and Bingo specific technologies and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

Responding to technical support call escalations from the 1st and 2nd line service desk team.

Installing and configuring operating systems and other applications.

Maintain and upgrade the IT infrastructure across the IT estate. (Servers, Storage and End User Devices)

Work on projects to drive forward change at Buzz’s technology stack and produce high-quality documentation along with this.

Working with the wider Infrastructure team to improve our customer experience.

Participation in the on-call Rota and BAU-related activitie

Your knowledge and experience

You should be from a similar role with proven success and be experienced working in a quick-moving and fast-paced environment. Someone who is looking to develop themselves in a larger company and experience new systems and ways of working will be an ideal fit for this position.

You will have proven experience in IT Support and Infrastructure across Cloud, Storage, Physical, and Virtual servers.

Strong Skills in at least five of the following areas:

Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems

VMware Virtualization

SAN and Backup Technologies. (IBM, Commvault and Veeam preferred)

Microsoft Azure

Office 365 Administration

Active Directory/DNS/Group Policy

Physical Server troubleshooting and hardware replacement (HPE and Cisco UCS)

Basic understanding of networking principles

You should be:

An excellent communicator, who actively listens and can collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues. Be able to communicate problems as you see them and what sequence of events needs to occur for a resolution to be reached.

You should be someone who notices reoccurring/new problems and proactively looks to eliminate the root cause following the agreed change management process.

Willing to continually develop your skills and experience whilst being ready to learn new technologies specific to the Bingo and Gambling industry.

Flexible to changing demands and workloads.

Work effectively as a team and alongside other teams within the IT function.

Producing high-quality documentation to drive a high standard of operation within the function.

Suggest new ideas for working and improvements that could be made to existing systems, taking ownership to provide solutions and documentation for proposal.

Motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Microsoft MCSE / MCITP certification or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Flexibility required to provide support outside of core business hours to assist in the resolution of major incidents and implementation of changes.

Strong technical aptitude, with a passion for learning and driving improvement.

Working knowledge of the ITIL framework

Hold a full clean driving license as travel between group sites will be required.
