In order to expand our business, we have created this exciting opportunity for an ambitious, driven Device Driver Developer to join our growing software team in the continuing development of our global software platform. Oh and we use C#.NET, in C#, .net framework just so you know.

AutoCoding Systems Limited (ACS) is an industry leading specialist software/automation company, which specialises in device automation and data integrity solutions in and around the packaging line environment. With Head Office located in Runcorn, our solutions are deployed globally with teams in the USA and Australia. The Driver Developer team is part of the main product development team at AutoCoding Systems. We develop and maintain an enterprise class product called AutoCoding that contains many first-class features for the control and automation of packaging lines and related workflow. Our product extends from primary item through to pallet. Throughout our solution we control multiple devices using our own developed drivers. Frequently we interface other systems/ APIs as necessary and enjoy a healthy relationship with other vendors’ software. We are sure once you look into what we do you will be impressed!

Responsibilities

As a Driver Developer you will play a varied role and will be exposed to the full lifecycle within an agile environment. As part of the strategic software team, your focus will be on contributing to the next generation of core products targeting a global marketplace. As a Driver Developer, you will focus specifically on the development of our device driver framework, including implementation, documentation, testing and troubleshooting.

During the first weeks and months your employment as Driver Developer at AutoCoding, you will work closely with our senior Device Driver Developer to understand the tools and techniques we use to create robust and feature-rich drivers. You will be expected to write driver tests in order to hone your skillset, before moving on to become actively involved in the development of new device drivers. We seek someone who loves the challenges of applying mathematical and scientific investigation within the context of software programming and byte-level device communications.

* Senior developer level experience in C#

* Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming

* Degree in Computer Science or related subject

* Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

* An interest in low-level device communications, deciphering protocol from vendor documentation.

* Enjoy working with a variety of software packages and devices/ equipment to determine strategies for network communications to develop drivers.

Not required but beneficial…

* Real-world experience of the C#.NET programming language

* Fluent coding in Visual Studio 2012

* Experience of low-level device communications (TCP/RS232), embedded software, or firmware development.

* Understanding of all stages of the development lifecycle
