Database Administrator

Salary: Up to £68,000 including on call allowance

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours

Database Administrator, based at Holiday House in Leeds City Centre.

Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays are always looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable people to join our award-winning team of colleagues. We are looking to hire a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing Data Platform team (DBAs, MVPs and Database Reliability Engineers).

The team consists of 8 DBA’s/Engineers supporting an estate of around 500 SQL Servers and 30 Oracle servers. We are looking for individuals who are keen to explore a variety of data platforms, drive innovation and develop their own skillset.

What will you do in the role?

* Provide core support to various functions within the team which include: incident support, release support, projects, automation and route to live (platform operations)

* Build, configure and support SQL Server operations across the business

* Review Pull Requests/release scripts from development teams. Investigate existing queries running on live databases and assist development teams in making queries more performant where possible

* Understand at least one method for High-Availability/Disaster Recovery, such as backups, mirroring, AlwaysOn, Failover Cluster Instance or Log Shipping

* Work closely with IT support and Release Management teams

* Provide support to the wider business in relation to Database queries and features

What are the key skills/experience you’ll already have?

* Keen to explore a variety of data platforms

* Driven to innovate and improve

* Willing to take advantage of excellent training opportunities via external conferences such as SQL Bits, as well as ongoing in-house and offsite training

* Good communicator

* Team player

* Enthusiastic and keen to learn new technologies/techniques

* Ability to get involved and provide support in resolving live/urgent issues impacting the business

* Any experience in Powershell automation, Oracle Cloud technologies or NoSQL would be desirable, but not essential
