Senior Data Migration Lead
Our client is a dynamic and expanding data migration consultancy currently seeking a Senior Data Migration Lead. A proven track record with multiple large-scale Data Migration projects is essential for this role. As a Senior Data Migration Lead, you will be responsible for the technical aspects of data extraction, transformation, and loading using established methodologies and toolsets. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with our senior consultants and Directors, executing Data Migration projects according to the company's methodology. You must exhibit leadership skills to manage technical teams under your guidance. In addition to your technical capabilities, strong analytical skills are crucial, as you will work directly with clients to identify data cleansing tasks and develop field mapping rules. Your experience in leading IT projects and liaising with stakeholders and senior management will be vital as you oversee project timelines and resources, serving as the primary point of contact for the client on a daily basis. A solid understanding of general business processes and system data structures will greatly enhance your effectiveness in this role.
Main Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the project's data scope, focusing on all data process areas.
Create and maintain the Data Migration plan, including cycles, resourcing, and timelines, ensuring alignment with the overall project plan in collaboration with System Implementation Consultants and clients.
Oversee or manage extraction processes from legacy systems to access raw data and engage clients on known data issues.
Lead data analysis efforts to identify gaps, quantify potential issues, and develop Data Quality reporting tools in line with company standards.
Collaborate with external consultants to understand data import processes and establish necessary links to system configurations.
Conduct mapping sessions with clients to determine how legacy data should be transformed for the new system.
Document data issues, gaps, mappings, required business rules, and risks, validating this information with stakeholders.
Manage the development and maintenance of T-SQL transformation code, as well as oversee data exports and imports, resolving any loading errors.
Facilitate data reconciliation activities and assist clients with reconciliation and testing tasks, ensuring adequate data extracts are provided as needed.
Lead documentation sign-off processes and ensure all project activities are aligned with defined standards and procedures.
Skills and Experience
Essential Skills, Technologies & Experience:
Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2017 and later) and SSMS.
Strong skills in relational database DDL and DML.
Advanced T-SQL programming and performance tuning abilities.
Exceptional communication and client-facing skills.
Analytical mindset with a commitment to detail and adherence to coding and documentation standards.
Proven ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Experience with at least three data migration projects and demonstrated technical team leadership.
Knowledge of project management principles and ERP systems.
Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Familiarity with common business system areas (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain, CRM, HRMS, Marketing Systems).
Desirable Skills & Technologies (not essential):
Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and MS Visual Studio.
Skills in technical report building tools such as PowerBI.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts.

The candidate must thrive in a dynamic environment and strive for excellence in every project.
Although the role is remote there will be a need to travel to Reading 3 to 4 times a year for team meetings, normally followed by a social event the next day.
