As a Data Engineer you'll be an integral part of the design and development of innovative data products, gathering, interrogating and drawing insight from complex data sets, utilising cloud platforms to deploy products that have a positive impact of our most vulnerable citizens. Joining our Integrated Risk and Intelligence Service (IRIS), you'll be working on projects that will help protect DWP users from the risks of fraud and error, using your experience in data solution innovation, data staging & modelling, cloud platform utilisation, rapid prototyping and ETL process design.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
Designs, develops. codes, tests, corrects and documents simple programs or scripts under the direction of others.
Understands core technical concepts related to their role and is able to apply them.
Aware of the need to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and understands what communication is required to internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Specialisms – Programming Languages – Experience in one or more programming languages eg: SQL, HIVE SQL, Spark SQL, Python, Shell / BASH.
Experience of developing automated ETL / ELT pipelines (error handling, re-start, data quality, telemetry).
Experience of version control and modern deployment approaches.
