CWCS Managed Hosting is a rapidly growing IT company based in Nottingham. We have thousands of customers in the UK and overseas using our shared web hosting, dedicated servers, colocation and cloud hosting services. We have an excellent reputation and deliver great customer service, high quality technical support and enterprise-grade hosting products.

Due to our continued growth we are looking to add to our excellent 3rd Line Team. The role includes some on-call responsibilities, which are shared across other members of the team. As part of CWCS you will help to deliver service to meet our customer’s expectation, and in line with SLAs, ensuring that quality is delivered at every opportunity.

You must have a passion for technical issues, a keen eye for detail, and patience to investigate an issue and deliver a resolution in a timely fashion. General Responsibilities

The 3rd Line team are critical in delivering services to our customers, being responsible for the management of key accounts, maintaining security best practice, supporting our 2nd line team, and working with the Sales departments on proposals.

You will take on different functions within the team, split across three areas:

Escalations– Help deliver resolutions to tickets that have been escalated from our 2nd line team, and dealing with high priority customers directly.

Maintenance– Carrying out server maintenance on customer’s operating systems and hardware. Proactive maintenance is critical to managing customer’s perceptions of our support.

Research and Development/Training– Research new technologies and processes that help to automate our systems and deliver a consistent level of service. You will also be expected to continually train so that your knowledge helps the business deliver on its goals.

Summary

These functions have many components within them, a small example of these are:

* Server provisioning, custom scripts, and migrations, ensuring they are completed on time and on budget.

* Monitor the network and resolve issues appropriately.

* Oversee the regular auditing and patching of core and customer systems.

* Perform routine audits of systems and software.

* Build relationships with key managed customers.

* Train junior members of the technical operations centre.

* Develop knowledgebase documentation.

* Research, develop and implement new products and services.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to quality and information systems standards and a strong technical aptitude and ability to research and resolve complex issues. You will be self-motivated and keen to work as part of a team.

Experience

You should have a good knowledge of internet technologies, specifically those used to deliver website hosting. You should also be able to understand the interaction between hardware and software. Confidence of working with networks, and being able to diagnose faults is also crucial. Other areas of knowledge that would be required:

* Experience of VMware (vSphere, vSAN) system administration and maintenance.

* Linux and Windows administrative knowledge.

* Virtualisation and virtual machine management.

* Familiarity with open source tools.

* Networking concept.

* Diagnostic skills, and lateral thinking.

* Basic database administration including MySQL (MariaDB) and MSSQL.

* Ability to learn new technologies.

* A Linux or Microsoft certification would be advantageous.

* Evidenced right to work in the UK is a pre-requisite for this role.

This role would be of particular interest to someone with a qualification in a VMware looking to advance their career, and with a keen desire to improve their knowledge on a diverse amount of technologies.

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week including an on-call requirement
